Cellucor NO3 Chrome Initial Review

Have you tried any of Cellucor’s pre-workout supplements? Cellucor currently has four different pre-workout options available: C4 Extreme, M5 Extreme 2-in-1, N-Zero Extreme, and NO3 Chrome. The first three are stimulant-based pre-workout supplements (the first two also include creatine in the formula) with the last one being both stimulant-free and creatine-free. NO3 Chrome is a “Nitric Oxide Pump Amplifier” supplement that comes in pill (capsule) form. Mainly, NO3 Chrome comes in either a 90-capsule or 180-capsule bottle – although, I have seen a 21-capsule bottle offered on some website.

Cellucor NO3 Chrome plus Supplement Facts

The recommended dosage is based on your weight and/or if you are stacking it with other Cellucor supplements; here is what Cellucor recommends you take 60 to 90 minutes before workout:

Condition

Dosage

Stacking with other Cellucor pre-workout 3
Body weight is less than or equal to 160lbs 3
Body weight between 161lbs and 180lbs 4
Body weight between 181lbs and 200lbs 5
Body weight 201lbs or greater 6

Initial Thoughts – Summary

After reviewing NO3 Chrome, I have mixed feelings about this supplement. Overall, I found no negative side effects when using it, but the supplement retails for about $50 for the 90-capsule bottle and $100 for the 180-capsule bottle, so this falls outside of many people’s price range. If I was to rate this product on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being super great and 1 being really terrible), I’d give this a solid 7.5 or maybe 8 on a good day.

When Should I Buy NO3 Chrome?

  1. You are a bodybuilding who is currently using C4 Extreme, M5 Extreme 2-in-1, or N-Zero Extreme and want an added boast (amplifying your current pump).
  2. You have been taking stimulant-based pre-workout supplements for a little while, and you are looking to take a break (from stimulants) in order to reset your body and avoid the plateau.
  3. You are somebody who is really sensitive to stimulants but is still looking for (and needing/needing) a pre-workout supplement in order to optimize your workout results!

When Should I Buy a Different Cellucor Pre-workout Supplement?

  1. You are looking for a stimulant-based pre-workout supplement.
  2. You are on a small budget and are pondering whether to buy one pre-workout supplement that costs a little bit more or to buy something like C4 Extreme and some post-workout protein!
  3. You are looking for something that will give you the same kick and feeling as a Jack3d, 1MR, or C4 Extreme.

Wrap Up!

Overall, I do like this product, but I would recommend it mainly when you are looking to cycle off stimulants (and stimulant-based pre-workout supplements) and when you want to amplify a Cellucor pre-workout supplement like M5 Extreme 2-in-1! I’d love to hear what you think about NO3 Chrome. Are you getting great results from it? Is it worth the investment for you?

Terry Crews Cobra Back Workout Review

Hitting the gym everyday of the week, I am always looking for new techniques to get better and stronger results! One day, I was roaming around the Bodybuilding.com website when I came across a back routine by famous actor and former NFL player Terry Crews! Since I am also a fan of his and know that he is also a big fitness fanatic like me, I figured that I should try it out and see what happens. I figured that Terry Crews did not get his muscles from just keeping it light and taking it easy in the gym. So, I gave it a whirl! I must admit that I currently workout my shoulders on my back days, so I kept that true and merely put Terry’s cobra back workout in front of a shorter shoulder workout! The first time I tried this workout, it took me about 2 hours to get through his back workout, so, if you are looking to give it a try, just make sure that you give yourself enough time to try it out. That does not mean that it will take you 2 hours, but it did take me about as I tried to keep the workout in the same order that he did it, tried to maintain the proper form, tried to figure out the best weights to use for each set, and tried to fight the gym crowd. I will admit that this workout kicked my butt the first time I gave it a try, and it will probably give you a run for your money too, but hang in there! Make sure that you focus more on maintaining proper form and technique than trying to slap on maximum weight in an effort to show off. Also, I encourage you to make sure that you look at your diet as well; basically, without getting into what to eat or not to eat before any workouts, just make sure you have enough fuel in your body to get through the workout; the last thing you will want is for your energy levels to drop while your struggle through a new workout.

Again, I encourage you to give this routine a few tries. Thus far, I have seen some solid results and plan to keep this routine in the weekly mix! But, I strongly encourage you to do the following:

  1. Remember that it starts in the kitchen
  2. Eat enough to ensure you don’t run out of energy
  3. Stay hydrated ~ drink water in-between sets and throughout the day
  4. Allow enough time to get the full routine in
  5. Stay focused
  6. Never quit! Hard work pays off!

Check out this routine and let me know what you think about it!

Cellucor M5 Extreme 2-in-1 Initial Review

Cellucor M5 Extreme 2-in-1 is a pre-workout supplement that gives the user the capability of customizing the supplement to their specific workout needs. One thing about most pre-workout supplements is that they normally have an ingredient or two that boosts energy levels, and, normally, these are stimulant-based. Sure, this is a great thing in many cases, but what about when you get to the gym late but still need to make sure you can fall off to sleep at a reasonable time? I remember many times in the past few years where I would arrive at the gym late for a heavy workout and later find that the pre-workout (typically nitric oxide-based) was keeping me up later than I wanted. So, back to this new customizable version of Cellucor M5 Extreme, this supplement comes in a split container with two compartments. The bottom portion is their “Build” component while the top portion is their “Ignite” component. Hence, if you need the added energy boost, you can always add a scoop or two of the “Ignite” to your one scoop of the “Build” in order to kick things up one or two notches. On the other hand, if you do not need the added energy boost or simply want to work out without the stimulants for any reason, you can merely take one scoop of the “Build” component and go hit the weights!

Some Personal Cellucor History

Prior to winning the Cellucor (Supplements for one year) contest, I was a loyal customer of some of their more popular products. To give a quick history, I started my Cellucor supplement experience with a purchase of their C4 Extreme pre-workout supplement. At the time, I was wanting to give a different product a try after have some mixed success with Jack3d during various cycles throughout the previous six months. I found C4 to be quite explosive (pun intended), but I kept hearing about some product called M5. After doing a quick search, I realized that M5 Extreme was a muscle-building pre-workout product that brought together an advanced mixture of creatine that allows for enhanced muscle building! At the time, I still had my 60-serving container of C4 Extreme. I heard that it stacked really nicely with M5 Extreme (what I believe is now basically the “Build” portion of the new 2-in-1 version), so I bought a 60-serving container of the older version of M5 Extreme so I could stack one scoop of C4 Extreme with one scoop of this M5 Extreme! After I was running low on this combined stack, I heard and later saw that Cellucor was introducing the new 2-in-1 version of its M5 Extreme. On August 4, 2011, I bought 30-serving container for my birthday, and immediately hit the gym!

Initial Thoughts

First, I must say that I really enjoyed the supplement. I found it quite intriguing that Cellucor took a solid M5 Extreme pre-workout supplement of theirs and made it so I could customize my pre-workout supplement each day based on what I needed and how I felt before hitting the gym each evening. Second, I was excited to use this product since I found it very tasty and helpful in the gym. We all know that some of the best foods (or supplements) do not always appeal to our taste spuds, but this was not the case with the Fruit Punch M5 Extreme 2-in-1 supplement. Plus, and more importantly, I found the supplement to help me optimize my workouts! I have enhanced focus while in the gym, and I felt like I could get that extra rep when I really needed it!

My Dosage

I always recommend that you read the label, consult your physician as needed, and definitely follow the dosage recommendations for M5 Extreme 2-in-1, and that recommendation goes for any supplement that you are looking to take. In the case of the 2-in-1 M5 Extreme, I almost always took one big scoop of the “Build” component and 1.5 to 2 scoops of the “Ignite” component. I mixed that in a blender bottle, usually in one of my SmartShake (Jay Cutler 20oz special edition) blender bottle, with about 10 ounces of water. After drinking it about 30 minutes before my workout, I would normally have a little bit of leftover residue in the bottle of my blender bottle, so I added some more water, shook it up, and drank that on the way to the gym. Before hitting the weights, I would still get in a little cardio warmup for five to ten minutes. I used this product for one whole month, working out each and every day, and I found it highly effective for me. Obviously, it is a good idea to drink plenty of water each and every day, and I highly recommend that you especially drink plenty of water (60+ ounces) if you are doing a good deal of cardio, taking supplements, and/or want to optimize your bodily functions (ie metabolism).

Recommendation

If you are somebody who wants to add some focus and some strength in the weight room, I highly recommend that you give this product a try. This is a good pre-workout supplement that is easy to use, customizable to your workout needs, and effective! While the price is a little higher than some might like, it is worth the retail price as you are paying for quality in the form of Magnesium Creatine Chelate and Creatine Nitrate (among other great ingredients)!

This is a highly popular product, so you might find that your local GNC has it on backorder. From what I understand, that issue should be resolved in late September, but I would recommend that you check your local Max Muscle store; for those in the Kennesaw, Georgia, area, the Max Muscle Cobb store owners and staff members are very knowledgeable and helpful! In addition to Max Muscle supplements, they carry a good deal of Cellucor products, so they tend to have a bunch of great stuff in stock! Plus, when all of the local GNC stores and the GNC.com website were out of stock, this Max Muscle location was the only place in the region that still had some M5 Extreme 2-in-1 in stock! This is where I bought my C4 Extreme and M5 2-in-1 from and where I spend most of my supplement shopping time at!

What’s Better? Top Grate Versus Blender Ball

I have been working out for quite some time, and I have gained so many good tips along the way, but there are still a few things that stump me. One issue is the protein blender bottle. I have found two primary styles; one style involves a top grate of sorts that filters and breaks down the protein powder in an effort to properly mix it while the other one uses a steel ball that moves around with the contents in an effort to blend the liquid with the supplement. While I find both to work well and have used both in recent months, is one better than the other? In most cases, it appears that the grated filtration system style tends to cost less than the blender ball styles out there, but price alone does not indicate true value or quality. I recently contacted Smart Shake after seeing Jay Cutler pushing their blender bottles, and I found it surprising that their compartmentalized blender bottle actually comes with the grated top filtration system in lieu of the blender ball. I asked them why that is the case on their Twitter Profile? They responded by saying that the grated filtration system is actually better than the blender ball system. In my experience, the blender ball system is much easier to clean (unless you stick the supplement powder in before the water – I do not know of anybody who does that anymore). So, the jury is still out, and we know that every brand will claim their own to be the best out there. Again, for me, both systems work rather well! I still plan to buy a Smart Shake blender bottle or two, but I may elect to find myself an extra blender ball to make give me that blending option! What do you think? Which do you like better?

Kennesaw-Barrett LA Fitness – First Impressions

Since moving into Kennesaw, Georgia, last May, I have been a loyal LA Fitness member, and I continue to be today. During this time, I have enjoyed the gym location that I frequented on a near-daily basis, but I noticed that a new LA Fitness location on Barrett Pkwy popped up close to my house (about the same distance away as the one I go to but in a different direction), so I figured that I would give it a go for my strength training workout from yesterday afternoon! While I will be going back and checking out more, I wanted to take a moment to tell you what my first impressions were!

Tile throughout and in the locker room (Positive)

Unlike the older location I frequent more often, the locker room floors are all tile. I find that this is beneficial in two different ways. First, it allows the staff to more easily clean and maintain the locker section whereas carpet tends to be more work for the staff at the older locations. Second, it allows the members to be better informed about the cleanliness of the locker rooms; visual confirmation goes a long way!

Medium Size (Neutral)

I must say that I am more accustomed to having the bulk of the cardio equipment on the second level deck with the weights and machines sectioned off below! So, it is a bit of a squeeze, but it still feels relatively spacious!

Equipment & Weights (Mostly Positive)

The equipment is obviously brand new, and that goes a long way. The plates are 12-sided, so I can even stand them up on the floors next to me if I need to give my arms a quick break. I will say that I have four minor concerns. First, the free weight area is a little frustrating. I love the dumbbell rack system, but the free weight benches are lower to the ground, making it extremely difficult for the average person to watch himself or herself lift the weights; I have been told this is especially difficult for the ladies. Second, the two duel pulley cable systems near the center of the weights area only show the weights in kilograms (twice) instead of both pounds and kilograms. Luckily, both of my smartphones that I use to type out my workouts come with a built-in calculator app! Also, it should be noted that LA Fitness is looking into this issue and will be resolving it soon! Third, the weights are all 12-sided, so that means that the weight trees will need to be ignored since I am a bit OCD; when I walk to the tree, I will probably want to line up all of the weights just right, but that is just me! Speaking of OCD, I still wish a gym would have colored weight plates to separate the different sections of the gym, but that is another discussion altogether! Last, I love a great leg workout, and my goal is to top 1,600lbs on the angled/linear leg press machines this year, but the capacity of their biggest machine is 1,543lbs, and I assume that the sled is not rated to allow for additional weight to be added! Again, however, this is not a deal breaker! I will say that the cardio equipment has their own individual screens that are built in for those cardio fanatics! Also, the spin room is three-tiered, an experience I look forward to checking out in the near future! [Read more...]
